Workers' Compensation

If you suffer serious injuries or are disabled as a result of a workplace accident, the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation program is designed to protect you. When a job related injury results in the death of an employee who is covered by workers comp insurance, the surviving spouse and dependent children may claim death benefits. Employers with five or more employees are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance at no cost to their employees.

Under the worker compensation program, a broad range of injuries and illnesses are covered, ranging from loss of fingers, toes, eyes, and other body parts, back injuries, hearing damage, eye injuries, work induced heart attacks, repetitive trauma injures and pulmonary conditions to name a few.

Because workers' compensation is a no-fault insurance program, injured employees do not have to prove an injury was someone else's fault to receive workers' comp benefits.

State statutes in Tennessee govern the benefits available to you and set limits on amounts awarded as well as time limits for filing workers compensation claims.

Benefits available through the workers comp program may include:

  • Medical benefits
  • Temporary Disability
  • Permanent Partial Disability (PPD)
  • Permanent Total Disability (PTD).
  • Physical rehabilitation
  • Death benefits for surviving dependents

When you are injured on the job or if your workers’ compensation claim has been denied, James R. LaFevor, Attorney at Law can help protect your rights.
